The Little Skool-House International Presentation Synopsis
Literacy is the ability to use reading and writing for a variety of tasks at school and outside of school. As such, listening, speaking, reading and writing forms the foundation for a literate person and an important measure for school readiness. Today, children’s literacy has become a way of measuring whether you are a “good enough” parent. Parents buy story books and send their children for numerous reading classes with the hope that their children can read and write earlier and better than their peers. What are things we can do on a daily basis to improve our children’s literacy development? In reality, the key is the link between good, healthy play and forming good habits to include literacy in our everyday interactions with our children. Meet our early childhood specialists to exchange ideas on ways to improve language and literacy development and learn to make simple materials that can be used for fun language games at home.
