Are there any benefits to taking bird’s nest during pregnancy?

We ask Dr Kenneth Edward Lee, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Maternity and Gynaecological Clinic at Mount Alvernia Hospital.

This delicacy has not been scientifically proven to be beneficial to mum or the unborn baby so far. 

But, in Asia, many have gone to great lengths to obtain this precious commodity.

The common beliefs are that Baby will be born with a fair and smooth complexion, while the expectant mum will get more protein.

My philosophy with regard to traditional herbal preparations and bird’s nest is that if it doesn’t cause any harm, and you actually like the taste of it, then go ahead.
